On Vox: My first giveaway!

It's eight days to my wedding - which is on 08/08/08. To make everyone participate in the mix of anticipation and dread (haha), I've decided to have a giveaway. If things go well with this, I'm probably going to continue. I've given books to people before, just not in any kind of contest, but I enjoy entering other people's giveaways, so let's spread the fun.

1. $20 dollar e-certificate to Barnes and Noble (I figure this makes things a bit easier for non-US participants)

2. Your choice of a paperback book from one of the authors in the list below. It has to be currently in print (you can ask for Wanderlust too, just expect to wait a bit until it comes out in order to get it).

Some authors in urban fantasy/futuristic/space opera that tickle me

Linnea Sinclair

Wen Spencer

Ann Aguirre

Ilona Andrews

Patricia Briggs

Eve Kenin

Michelle Sagara

Jocelynn Drake

What you have to do

Just comment with your name here on vox or on my LJ (janicu.livejournal.com) by midnight EST on 08/08/08. Anyone on the planet who amazon/bn ships to can enter. If you spread the word and post a link of where you spread the word, you get two entries in this contest (cause - this blog has um... about 5 readers).

I'll probably be recovering from the wedding so likely won't pick winners till 8/11/08. I'll try to be earlier. We'll see how it goes.

Nope, not sure I'll have recovered. But, they say to take risks and all that jazz, so let's add to the nuttiness! I really like your date - I like it when the numbers mean something. Mine is cause I like things in threes.

Here's my entry and also where I've posted to spread the word - bkwrrm_tx.livejournal.com/350358.html

You're planning on being recovered from your wedding in a week? I got married 12 years ago, and sometimes I'm still not recovered. ;-)

Either way, you have an interesting LJ, so I'll have fun reading and catching up. You? Go get married, and have the best day of your life.

Um. Yeah, "How bad could it be?" is what I'm telling myself. I hope I recover!
Jul. 31st, 2008 08:17 pm (UTC)
Oooh, books! Consider this a comment. (I'm here via the link from bkwrrm_tx.)

Putting my name in for the draw.

May your day be wonderful - if you keep uppermost in mind the whole reason you're having this special day, i.e. to become the next-of-kin to your love, it won't matter what happens on the day, it'll still be fantastic!

Our wedding day was 05-05 - Cinco De Mayo - at the zoo! Best. Party. Ever. (complete with galloping giraffes and hooting chimps) - BUT it still would have been great if it were just us in a storage room. It was 'our' day.

Happy 'your' day!!

Thanks for the good advice. I will definitely keep that in mind - wedding stress shouldn't overwhelm what's most important.

I love the idea of getting married at the zoo! Wow, you can do that? Sounds like it was a lot of fun. We have frogs at ours, it's near a pond. So we do have some wildlife...

(I very much enjoy urban fantasy, but I've never read anything by any of the authors you list. Yet.)

Thanks for the congratulations.

Commenting! Also I would like to offer you my congratulations and my condolences on your coming wedding, simply because marriage is all about balance. :-)

Oh, and my name is my lj name... simple, huh?

Ah, thank you for both the congratulations and condolences. So true. It's both fun, and yet some days - not fun, planning a wedding.
