Carnegie Hall - the sound in here is pretty amazing.

I've been avidly following The Lizzie Bennet Diaries for a long time now and I got my husband watching the series too. Through Lizzie Bennet he got hooked on the vlogbrothers, read Looking For Alaska, and then promptly bought us two tickets to An Evening of Awesome on the day they went on sale.

I am very pleased with what I have wrought.

We had some nice seats (row K in the main pavilion), and we both had a lovely time. I took a lot of pictures, but the low light, no flash rule, and distance with my little camera made for a lot of blurry shots. I still got a couple of nice ones though, so I'm going to post them here.

Yay! So was this evening awesome? Yes. Very geeky in a good way: different, overlapping kinds of geekery in a big fun show. :)

If you missed the show, it's all online on youtube here.

How neat! How were Ashley and Daniel? Did they just read or did they interact with the crowd a bit?

I've been following the videos, too, and FINALLY they're at Pemberley!

It was kind of weird because I was used to them as Lizzie and Darcy and I felt like the characters in the book were younger than these actors. But they interacted well with each other, and there were bits where they were playing to the audience - Ashley did the narrator's voice and Daniel played Augustus.

I KNOW. The videos are getting GOOD. After every one I want to see the NEXT ONE IMMEDIATELY.

AND. In the scene from THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, the two characters kiss. The actors did not. Hank Green said: if you want to see them kiss, you have to watch the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. O_O

I am so jealous! I watched the end of the livestream and the whole event looked like so much fun. I can't believe Neil Gaiman was there!

He was the guest that surprised me the most. The girl next to me and I were losing it a little bit when Neil Gaiman came out.

But then.. I go to work the next day and was telling someone about the show and they didn't know who Neil Gaiman was. I listed Stardust, and American Gods, and Sandman, and Doctor Who and: NOTHING, I got NOTHING. Until Coraline, when he responded with: "That's a book? I thought Tim Burton just made that up." - Tim Burton didn't even have anything to do with Coraline! It is so sad.

It's kind of bizarre how Neil Gaiman has been such a giant in the field for so long, yet people outside the sci-fi/fantasy world have never heard of him.

Speaking of which, I don't know which drives me more crazy, people who assume that all stop motion animation is Tim Burton, or people who assume that all computer animation is Pixar.
